Teaching in Afghanistan
noor small
The Tom Little Hospital in Kabul is looking for a few good ophthalmologists to teach the ophthalmologists in Afghanistan.
Over all these years NOOR has established and provided eye care in the whole of Afghanistan, set up facilities to train eye care professionals at all levels and has partnered with the Government of Afghanistan in handing over programs well established.
There are positive things happening in Afghanistan! Men, women and children’s eye sight is improved, blind people receive surgery and can see again. We thank God for bringing light to Afghanistan through NOOR and we thank you for all your support.

Ophthalmologist Sought for Partnership in the Congo

Partners in Mission is still seeking a MSICS or ECCE trained cataract surgeon to work together with a Congelese ophthalmologist sometime in 2012 between May and September for higher volume cataract surgery.  (date to be set by the surgeon volunteering)  Please read below to know more about the opportunity.  For questions, see contact details below.

The Congo Partnership:

In the late 1990s a partnership was established between the people of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference and those of the Central Congo Episcopal Area of the United Methodist church. Our Partnership brings renewal and restoration of spiritual and material ministries for the whole church and especially its children. Through this partnership, we have the opportunity to give dramatic testimony to the unity of the body of Christ, to the mutuality of love and to the promise of life that overcomes death. The Mpasa Medical Center serves a community that is largely refugees from Sudan.  Surgery, pediatrics, internal medical, pharmaceutical and laboratory services provide treatment for almost 5000 people annually. Also, because malnutrition is a major factor affecting the lives of the area residents, the Center provides a nutritionally complete meal to 350 children daily.

HCJB (www.hcjb.org) is still searching for primary care doctors and an ophthalmologist for missionary staffing of their Shell hospital in the summer or fall of 2012.  A full time ophthalmology presence has been established since August 2010.  Althought it is still in the early phases, incredible progress has been made with the support of many doctors and generous donations.

The clinic is now fully equipped with 3 lanes, phoropters, slit lamps, a YAG laser, diode laser and small optical.  The OR is ready for any US ophthalmologist with a Zeiss microscope and 2 different phaco machines.  It is fully equipped with instruments and supplies for phaco, MSICS, shunt valves, corneal transplants and more.

3) To support other physicians' faith in Christ regardless of denominational background
4) To have meetings with emphasis on the family so that all family members will feel at home and enjoy the surroundings
5) To develop new professional acquaintances and get to know the families of colleagues who love the Lord
6) To cooperate with and pray for missionary ophthalmologists
7) To pray for revival, particularly in medicine
